Course Description
This course goes beyond the introductory data science basicsĀ to teach students how to analyze, interpret, and communicate data insights in real-world contexts. Students will explore uncertainty, variability, correlation vs. causation, and bias while developing the ability to draw evidence-based conclusions. Emphasis is placed on translating analytical results into actionable executive summaries and understanding ethical, legal, and AI-related considerations in data practice.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply appropriate descriptive and inferential methods to summarize data and identify associations and relationships.
- Use appropriate tools and technology to collect, process, transform, summarize, and visualize data.
- Be able to draw accurate and useful conclusions from a data analysis.
- Effectively communicate methods and findings in a variety of modes.
- Identify goals and methods of testing hypotheses.
- Explain the bootstrap methods.
- Mine data to develop predictive models and evaluation.
