Course Description
The financial services industries are changing rapidly with the emergence of financial technology (FinTech). The objective of the course is to provide students with an overview of FinTech and introductions to its applications in financial services, such as commercial and investment banking, digital investing, and secure payments.Learning Outcomes
- Understand recent FinTech developments and analyze their impact on the financial services industries;
- Describe the evolution of money and cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin;
- Understand the impact of FinTech on traditional banking and developments in payments, digital banking;
- Identify cybersecurity threats to traditional payments and describe the innovations brought by FinTech in fraud detection, identification protection, secure payment, and so on.
- Describe the innovations happened with FinTech and identify the opportunities in the FinTech industry.
