Course Description
This course introduces students to academic, life and development skills necessary for their success. Students taking this course will develop an awareness of themselves as learners, learn effective study behaviors, strategies, and habits, and establish a realistic plan for college success. It will also introduce students to university academic standards, codes, policies, and procedures.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify their current mindset and their strengths and utilize them to their fullest potential.
- Improve time management skills
- Use of individual’s learning style as a study/test strategy.
- Use of various study strategies to improve time spent in class and for test preparation. Use critical thinking and appropriate test taking strategies consisting of various question types.
- Demonstrate an understanding of honest academic practices and consequences for violating the policy. Identify common areas of academic dishonesty.
- State at least one major/career path they are interested and understand various campus resources and tools to fully develop their career potential.
