Course Description
This course introduces students to the French language and the global diversity of la Francophonie. Through engaging activities and real-world cultural contexts—from Paris to Québec—students will develop foundational skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Along the way, they’ll explore regional accents, cultural traditions, and the role of French in Africa, the Americas, and beyond.Learning Outcomes
- Communicate basic personal information and ask and answer simple questions using common vocabulary and expressions.
- Use numbers and how to apply them in conversation in practical contexts such as discussing age, telling time, planning events, and describing daily tasks.
- Identify and describe family members, friends, and other people using appropriate vocabulary and grammatical structures.
- Express routine activities and daily habits in French using relevant vocabulary.
- Demonstrate awareness of Francophone cultures and language variation by comparing cultural practices and perspectives with one’s own.
