# Introductory Business Law

## Course Description

This course introduces students to key concepts in American business law, with a focus on the role of contracts in commercial settings. Topics include the historical foundations and sources of American law, legal systems and procedures, agency and employment relationships, and sales. This course can be used in preparation for the CLEP exam. The course is designed to help students develop a general awareness of legal principles relevant to business environments, as well as recognizing legal issues in professional contexts.

## Learning Outcomes

- Explain the structure of the legal system in the US and its relevance to business operations.
- Describe major areas of business law, including contracts, torts, business entities, and employment law.
- Identify the legal rights and responsibilities of businesses, employees, and consumers in a variety of contexts.
- Identify the role of law in promoting ethical business practices and decision-making.
- Utilize basic legal concepts to address common business problems.
